The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) has enhanced its Overdose Dashboard to provide a more comprehensive view of substance use and overdose incidents in Spokane County. This update, funded through a partnership with the City of Spokane Valley, includes expanded data on various substances, demographics, and geographic patterns of overdoses.
The updated dashboard now offers insights into overdose incidents involving prescription opioids, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, psychotropic medications, sedatives, and alcohol poisoning. It also provides detailed demographic information, including data on overdoses among individuals experiencing homelessness and within different industries. Additionally, the dashboard now features a section on polysubstance use, highlighting drugs that are commonly used together.
According to Danielle Wrenn-St Pierre, SRHD’s data center program manager, the expanded data allows for a better understanding of substance use patterns in the community, which can aid in directing prevention and treatment resources effectively. The dashboard also includes updated emergency medical services information, with visualizations showing naloxone administration before EMS arrival.
The Overdose Dashboard is part of SRHD's broader effort to equip the community with valuable health information, supporting public health initiatives across Spokane County.
