Spokane County is considering the closure of Geiger Corrections Center, with the potential closure planned for 2027. The facility was built almost 75 years ago, and the county says it would cost more than $50 million to repair it.
This is a decision the county is making amid county-wide budget cuts.
If closed, inmates at the Geiger facility would be transferred to the Spokane County Jail in 2027. The county would then demolish the Geiger Corrections Center in 2028.
