Spokane City Council Approves Emergency Declaration for Fires

Spokane City Council unanimously approved emergency orders on August 19, 2026.

The declaration responds to the Spokane Complex Fires that began on August 4, 2026.

The emergency allows the Mayor to enter contracts over $50,000 without prior Council approval.

The state of emergency is set to last until October 1, 2026, unless extended.
