Fairchild Air Force Base has been awarded a $2.24 million grant from the Department of Defense. The funding is designated for the reconstruction of Thorpe Road and the opening of a second gate at the base.
Rebuilding Thorpe Road will facilitate better transportation routes for both military and civilian vehicles accessing the base, alleviating congestion and improving traffic flow.
The project will cost in total $3,195,000, with the grant covering the majority of that cost. It will cover the rebuild of one mile of Thorpe Rd, which was build 25 years ago.
